Awakening is part of Jo's New Beginnings collection which embodies the feeling of moving forwards into a positive future, fresh perspectives and opening up to new ideas.
The large petals are ripe and opening, leaning into the light and bursting off the edge of the canvas in a feeling of fullness and abundance.
The final addition of oil sticks, roughly drawn to add pops of colour to the petals and leaves, creates a rugged edge to the beautiful, painterly flowers.
A powerful piece that would create a positive flow of energy within the room.

Jo Bedell
Jo Bedell is an East London-based artist, who crafts mixed media artworks primarily using oils, acrylics, pastels, and charcoal. Drawing on a background in printed textile design, her pieces frequently incorporate historical patterns or floral references, reinterpreted in a contemporary style or setting.
Informed by personal experience, Jo’s paintings delve into themes of escapism, emotional, and mental transformation. A current focus being the exploration of new motherhood and the evolving dynamic between identity and societal expectations.
